SEO is a Constant Ongoing Process!
SEO or search engine optimization as it’s known in its long form is not a one time set it and forget it action. First let’s start with what seo is. SEO means that you optimizing a website and its pages so that it is search engine friendly and that it gets ranked in the search engines high at the top of the natural search results. There are always ten natural search results per page.
You have to optimize the website two ways. The first way is called “on page” factors which means optimizing the web pages themselves with the correct meta tag information. You would also make sure your keywords are in the right location and at the right percentage. In other words you do not want to stuff your keywords all over your webpages.
The second factor is off page optimization. This means in a nut shell getting page rank. Google loves page rank. Page rank is simply the amount of sites that link to your site and the quality of those sites. The more people who link to your site the better. However, you don’t want junk sites linking to you. You want good quality sites using your keywords as anchor text.
Seo is an ongoing process. You have to continue to produce new content as well as continue to build page rank in order for your site to rank high in the search engines for your main keywords. Google views websites as living, breathing organisms and if they are not properly fed with new content and new sites linking to it then eventually you will lose your positioning in the search engines.
You have to constantly update, build and create back links to your site if you want it to get to and remain at the top of the natural search results. That’s the name of the game!
