Free Local Map Listings
The first thing you should do after getting your website up and running is
get it listed with several “local” indexes. Here is a list of the ones I just
did for this website just a few days ago:
* Google Maps(Now called Google Places)
* Google Profile
* Yahoo local listings
* MerchantCircle.com
* Local.com
* Switchboard.com (called supermedia)
* Bing.com
* DMOZ.org
All of the above sites are free to submit your local site to and each one only takes
about 10 minutes. This way when someone searches for your main keywords on
Google, Yahoo, or Bing and so forth then your site will show up in the free local
map listings.
The key is to fill out as much information as you can and complete the process with
as much information as possible. You also want to use your main “key words” in
your local listing.
